When the FSA study revealed the extend of the behavioral disorders caused in children by these food additives (which include sodium benzoate), the U.K. press went into a feeding frenzy over the issue and now the FDA is pressuring food manufacturers to remove the additives from the national food supply.
Back in the USA, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration seems to have heard nothing about this issue. It's doing nothing to protect children from such food additives and, in fact, appears to be taking a position that pretends the Southampton research never took place at all. |
| All the food, candy and sodas that are going to be consumed over the next several holidays have already been made in a factory, stored in a warehouse, shipped on a truck and loaded onto store shelves, just waiting for hungry, gullible consumers to come along and shovel down their own share of processed food additives and refined sugar derivatives.
There's a kind of sick beauty in the whole thing. I'm always struck by the idea that we must actually be the wealthiest people in the world, because we have so much "food" around here that people are actually just giving it away for free. |

Knowingly approved harmful food additives for widespread use in the food supply (such as aspartame, which has a rather dubious history and has been proven toxic in several studies), even when its own safety experts recommended denying approval.
Allowed the continued legal use of harmful, cancer-causing food additives in the national food supply such as sodium nitrite (which causes cancer and yet is intentionally added to nearly all processed meats). |

The Two Most Dangerous Food Additives
Two specific food additives may be largely responsible for the increasing numbers of people who are overweight, obese, prediabetic, and diabetic. These additives are high-fructose corn syrup and trans fats; uangers mat lutk ueyona l.aiones ana uaras dj the latter are found in partially hydrogenated vegetable oils. Most processed and packaged foods—those sold in boxes, cans, bottles, and jars—contain one or both of these additives. We list many of these foods in chapter 6. |

Two of the principle conditions that allow glutamate to shift from neurotransmitter to excitotoxin are:
1) Inadequate neuronal ATP levels (whatever the cause)
2) Inadequate neuronal levels of magnesium
One of the most common food additives, MSG (monosodium glutamate), has expanded greatly in use, doubling every decade since 1948. Aspartic acid is one half of the now ubiquitous sweetener aspartame (NutraSweet?, which is the basis of diet desserts, low-calorie drinks, chewing gum, etc. Both of these food additives spell danger for our children.
Glutamate and aspartate are neurotransmitters. |

Avoiding other major cancer risk factors, such as excessive sun exposure, alcohol, asbestos, pesticides, and some food additives, could also reduce the incidence of cancer.
Some substances in food are major contributors to cancer, including some that occur naturally and others that are added in processing. For example, food additives called nitrites, found in processed meats such as bacon and bologna, are converted in the body to potent carcinogens called nitrosamines. |

According to the Royal Society of Canada, 'The potentially widespread use of GM food products as food additives and staple foods, including use in baby foods, may lead to earlier introduction of these novel proteins to susceptible infants either directly or via the presence of the maternally ingested proteins in breast milk."18
The UK Royal Society suggested that "post-marketing surveillance should be part of the overall safety strategy for allergies, especially of high-risk groups such as infants," but acknowledged that it is not clear "whether such monitoring is feasible for GM food. |
| According to US law, GM ingredients are considered food additives. Normally, additives must undergo extensive safety studies, including long-term animal feeding studies prior to approval.4 If approved, the label of food products containing the additive must list it as an ingredient.
There is an exception, however, for substances that are deemed "generally recognized as safe" (GRAS). GRAS status allows a product to be commercialized without any additional testing. |

We'd like to be able to trust just one honest food company to not use these questionable food additives.
Let Amy's Kitchen know what you want, and I believe they'll respond. It would be nice to see the company announce a "no yeast extract" commitment and abandon the ingredient across their entire food line. But they won't do that without sufficient public pressure. It's the public, after all, that ultimately determines the formulations of their foods.
Take action: What you can do right now to save Amy from hidden ingredients

It means the company is sensitive to issues of food additives and that it is engaged in a constructive dialog intended to improve its product line and food safety. Personally, I continue to eat Amy's Kitchen products, but I carefully read all the labels now to make sure I don't accidentally consume one of the four products containing yeast extract.
Most of the Amy's Kitchen product line deserves a five-star rating for food quality, taste, texture and presentation. |

And they feed their kids cancer-causing processed meats, hyperactivity-causing food additives and obesity-promoting refined sugars. They load 'em up on high-fructose corn syrup and then wonder why little Johnny weighs 150 pounds. (Must be the genes, they think. Cause daddy's overweight, too.)
Poor health is an enormous burden for society
Even though some individuals and corporations may get financially rich by selling this junk to families, the bottom line is that we're all worse off when we raise unhealthy children in society. Why? |

Some of those ingredients are food additives and chemicals used to enhance taste, while others are used strictly for appearance or to increase product shelf life. The key to avoiding cancer-causing foods is knowing which ingredients are carcinogens -- or cancer promoters -- and then reading food labels to permanently avoid consuming those ingredients.
Cancer tumors develop, in part, by feeding on sugar in the bloodstream. If you eat lots of sugary snacks loaded with simple carbs, you're loading your bloodstream with the chemical energy needed for cancer cells (and tumors) to proliferate. |

Animals are treated with artificial hormones to increase their weight, with antibiotics to prevent disease and are reared on crops sprayed with chemicals. food additives, preservatives and artificial flavourings and colourings, combined with plastic wrapping and packaging, adulterate our food. Then we chew all this polluted food with amalgam-filled teeth which add excess mercury to our slowly poisoning bodies.
And we don't just have to worry about outside pollution. Inside, our homes and workplaces are riddled with pollutants. |

We dump greasy foods, sugar, salt, alcohol, harmful food additives, drugs, and more into our stomachs. Some of us smoke. We deprive our bodies of regular rest. Some of us worry ourselves half to death on a regular basis. Yet, we expect to be healthy. When we do become diseased, we think it is bad luck, or that some germ or virus zapped us. But the germ or virus would not have gained a foothold in the body if our immune system, with its specialized cells to resist disease-producing organisms, had remained strong. |

For example, large animals like horses, cows, and dogs will not lie down in geopathic energy areas. So if your dog won't lie on your bed where you sleep, move the position of your bed. You can buy small devices for your home, car, phone, place of work, and person that neutralize harmful emrs. |

| An in-depth analysis and explanation of the dangers of food additives and their effects can be found in Dr. Russell Blaylock's book Excitotoxins: The Taste that Kills.
Microwave Ovens
Foods that have been subjected to microwave radiation are dangerous to our health. Microwave ovens heat food with high-frequency microwaves that force water molecules to heat up by violently vibrating them. This causes a fracturing of the molecules, and a rearrangement of the chemical composition of the food. |
| There is much research data on the harm that chemical food additives do to human health. Taste-enhancers are aptly called "excitotoxins." These particular chemicals are in many of our processed and prepared foods. They include monosodium glutamate (msg), aspartame (Nutrasweet?, cysteine, hydrolyzed protein, and aspartic acid. Briefly stated, excitotoxins stimulate brain cells to death on a selective basis. They cause brain damage by exciting neurons to such a degree that various neurological malfunctions develop. |
| Nutritionally and chemically, we stress our cells by eating an improper diet, consuming chemicals in drugs, impure water, and food additives, and by breathing unclean air. This upsets the body's normal healthy acid-alkaline balance, and moves it into an acid condition. All these things, if continued long enough, contribute to a deterioration of bodily function and vitality. Trapped wastes and poisons from processed, cooked, and denatured foods and beverages inevitably cause reduced efficiency and disease. |
